Important Questions To Ask Before Using An Auto Body Shop

Have you recently been involved in a minor accident that had no injuries, except your own vehicle? Are you tired of the dents and scrapes that have accumulated on your car's body after parking lot encounters with shopping carts? Having dents and dings to take care of can be a frustrating experience. You have to find a body shop that is both affordable and that will do a good job. Fortunately, there are questions that you can ask that will help you decide between different body shops and allow you to get the repairs that you need. A few questions to ask are:

What sort of warranty do you offer? A good body shop will give you at least a 30 day warranty on any car body repair, but they should ideally be offering warranties with lengths of 1 or 2 years. It's unfortunate, but even the best shop will occasionally make mistakes or use parts that can potentially result in paint that starts to peel or in other various issues. A great body shop will own up to these mistakes that sometimes happen and offer to fix the problem without forcing you to jump through hoops or otherwise cause you more stress. If the shop that you're considering visiting has no warranty on their work at all, it's time to look elsewhere.

Does your shop have insurance that covers the vehicles left here? Although many auto body shops often have cameras and other security measures in place, thieves will sometimes target the cars in the parking lot. They may smash the windows of all the cars left overnight, grabbing several stereos and whatever else they can get their hands on. They may even break into the shop's office, steal keys, and take off with whatever cars they can drive away in. A good car body repair shop will have insurance that covers this sort of damage or theft that happens on their property. You shouldn't have to pay for the repairs or loss yourself, especially if the theft was no fault of your own.

What sort of certifications does the shop have? It's usually not a legal requirement for an auto body shop itself to carry any certifications related to car body repair. But you should look for a shop that both carries at least once certification itself and that also hires employees who have individual certifications. The more certifications a shop has, the more costly the repairs are likely to be. However, they also mean that you're more likely to get a higher quality of work done on your vehicle.
